12/26/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Atlanta Thrashers will try to post back-to-back victories for the first time in over a month when they host the Carolina Hurricanes in tonight's Southeast Division clash at Philips Arena.
The Thrashers have won two of three and are coming off Tuesday's road victory over the New York Islanders. Atlanta hasn't won two in a row since a five-game winning streak from November 2-14. That winning stretch tied a franchise record, but the Thrashers are just 5-11-2 since the streak.
Atlanta notched a 4-2 decision over the Islanders. Bryan Little scored twice, including the go-ahead power-play tally in the third period, to lift Thrashers to the victory at Nassau Coliseum.
Mathieu Schneider and Colby Armstrong also scored for Atlanta, while Ilya Kovalchuk had two assists on a milestone night. Kovalchuk, playing in his 500th game, recorded points 500 and 501 in his career. Johan Hedberg made 23 saves for the Thrashers.
Todd White added an assist in the win to extend his point streak to seven games. The veteran centerman has four goals and five helpers during the run.
Tonight marks the first of two straight at home for Atlanta, which is just 6-9-2 as the host club this season. The Thrashers have lost eight of their last nine tilts at Philips Arena.
The Hurricanes have dropped two of their last three outings as they are 1-2-0 on a four-game road trip that ends tonight. Carolina is 7-6-4 as the visiting team and has lost four of its last five road tests.
Carolina was last in action Tuesday night in Minnesota and the Wild recorded a 3-2 victory as Stephane Veilleux's short-handed tally late in the second period proved to be the game-winner.
The Hurricanes had held a 2-0 lead early in the second period, but Minnesota closed the tilt with three unanswered goals.
Rod Brind'Amour and Ray Whitney logged a goal and assist each while Michael Leighton was beaten for three goals on 23 shots in taking the loss for the Hurricanes.
After tonight's test the 'Canes will return home to begin a three-game stand, starting with Saturday's matchup against Boston.
Atlanta is 2-0 against the Hurricanes this year, as it posted a win at home and on the road. Carolina has still taken six of the last 10 meetings between the clubs and the Hurricanes have won seven of nine at Philips Arena.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.
(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977. Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.
Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer. In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite. After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.
Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions. They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds
Will he or won't he? Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.
Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.
"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."
Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.
Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.
But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback. It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
Here are the football odds as seen at MySportsbook.com and subject to change after February 10, 2007 if not locked in prior to that date.
